Reviews Featuring Josh Hartnett
40 days and 40 nights
While Hartnett is a good male lead, he doesn't quite pull it off (no pun intended) successfully in this quirky movie about sex. It's not over funny and certainly nothing new. Complete with hugely predictable 'does he get the girl?' ending and over the top characters - as a romantic comedy, it succeeds at entertaining, if only barely.
Hollywood Homicide
Jaded LA homicided detective Joe Gavilan has seen it all before and is surprised by nothing - which is just how you will feel after viewing this tired old hokum.
Black Hawk Down
A triumph of technique, a failure of storytelling.
Pearl Harbor
It’s big, it’s loud, and it’s a bit of an all-American mess – but it’s not quite as bad as you might expect.
Wicker Park
Expertly-directed but sadly mis-cast, this engaging romantic thriller brings us less a love triangle than a love dodecahedron – so make sure you’re paying attention if you don’t want to end up lost!
Sin City
It’s packed to the gunnels with sex and violence but, after all the hype, inflicting this level of disappointment upon us is the biggest sin of all.
The Virgin Suicides
A sign of better things to come as Sofia Coppola loses her directorial virginity with this sad, absorbing adaptation.
