Bodysong (2002) A kaleidoscopic succession of images that will have you laughing, gasping, shuddering and gaping, but most of all reflecting on the fundamental questions of human existence - plus a score by Johnny 'Radiohead' Greenwood that sets just the right tone of majesty, drama and awe. 10/10
Musa (2001) Forget 'Troy', forget 'Alexander' - this is war epic at its most intense, bloody and gripping, with no added cheese. 10/10
Das Boot (1981) A tense and timeless masterpiece that is thoroughly gripping and will appeal to a much broader audience than might first seem the case - it's already considered a classic. 9/10
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) You'd never think impending nuclear disaster could be so much fun! 9/10
Hotel Rwanda (2004) Don Cheadle is a revelation in this heart-breaking look at how one man became a hero in the face of mankind at its most cold and destructive. 9/10
